This is an analytics solution integrated into S\/4HANA that enables <strong>real-time<\/strong> <strong>operational reporting<\/strong>. As an <strong>SAP HANA BI<\/strong> expert, we offer you a focus on <strong>Embedded Analytics<\/strong> in this article.<\/p><p>This solution is directly integrated into the FIORI interface of the ERP and allows users to benefit from <strong>real-time KPIs and analyses without leaving their business interface<\/strong>.<\/p><p>For example, a user can monitor the status of <strong>sales volumes<\/strong> or <strong>customer orders<\/strong> at a glance and without leaving their usual work tool:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Embedded Analytics<\/strong> are based on a technology called &#8220;<strong>Core Data Services<\/strong>&#8221; or &#8220;<strong>CDS Views<\/strong>&#8220;. These are<strong> scripted views<\/strong> that allow data from the ERP to be manipulated and formatted. This set of views forms a <strong>VDM (Virtual Data Model)<\/strong> composed of several types of views and several layers:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-585978b0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"585978b0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rapidviews.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/types-vues-embedded-analytics.png\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2df13e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2df13e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are three main types of views:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Database views<\/strong> : These are the &#8220;lowest&#8221; views, they only retrieve data from the tables stored in the HANA database.<\/li><li><strong>Interface views<\/strong> : These views are composed of two sub-types, basic views and composite views. Basic views are views that integrate transformations (joins, unions, calculations, etc.) and constitute a first level of information in the VDM. Composite views are sets of basic views.<\/li><li><strong>Consumption views<\/strong> : These are views that will be used for reporting or by other views to form multidimensional cubes.<\/li><\/ul><p>In terms of architecture, the <a href=\"\/en\/blog\/s4hana-en\/cds-views-presentation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>CDS views<\/strong><\/a> are fully integrated into the ABAP layer of the ERP :<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-215e9b68 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"215e9b68\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rapidviews.io\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/architecture-embedded-analytics.png\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\" \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2d610662 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2d610662\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">These views are based on the tables contained in the <strong>HANA database<\/strong> layer and are then exposed in the Fiori interface via the ODATA Protocol through the SAP Gateway or via INA services (HTTPS). These views are then consumed in the <strong>Fiori interface of S\/4HANA<\/strong> or on third party tools.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Unlike <strong>Calculation Views<\/strong>, which are only integrated in the database layer, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rapidviews.io\/en\/blog\/s4hana-en\/cds-views-presentation\"><strong>CDS Views<\/strong><\/a> benefit from all the advantages of the ABAP layer and can <strong>recover the security from the PFCG<\/strong> (authorization objects) to apply it on the fly to the data returned by the views.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-35dc2c38 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"35dc2c38\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-large\">Features of Embedded Analytics<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1c8ae27 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1c8ae27\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With <strong>Embedded Analytics<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sap.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SAP<\/a> has made available a number of functionalities and tools that allow the manipulation of <strong>CDS views<\/strong>.
